Mike Stone was named as CIO for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in May 2014, having previously been CEO of Defence Business Services, an outsourced contract from Serco providing corporate services to the MOD. He introduced a new “defence as a platform” strategy to improve and cut the costs of MOD IT, as well as renegotiating the ministry’s main IT outsourcing deals, the Defence Information Infrastructure (DII) and Defence Fixed Telecommunications Service (DFTS) contracts. Stone will be leaving his role at the MOD in March 2017.
