Trends in unified communications - Genband Perspectives16
Genband Perspectives16 is a user/customer/partner and developer event. With its software application developer audience in mind, Genband has integrated a hackathon into this event as part of the core activities.
Also of potential interest to programmers and ‘communications software engineers’ (not necessarily a formal job title, but it could be soon) is news of US military graded approval for its communications technology.
The Genband Application Server teamed with the Polycom VVX voice and video portfolio have achieved certification by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) of the US Defense Information Systems Agency.
The combined technology has been approved as a Local Session Controller (basically, technology that helps govern setting up, conducting and tearing down telephone calls or other interactive media communications) for deployment in the United States Department of Defense (DoD) communications networks.
Genband provides military-grade resiliency with standards-based SIP-session control. The firm will no doubt be hoping to pick up a portion of the cloud spend that the US military and government departments and now making.
