VM backup down as a priority while disaster recovery still tops to-do lists

Cloud storage continues to gain momentum in various forms. In the survey 35% of those questioned cited cloud storage as a key priority, with 30% indicating cloud backup as a key task for 2015. But it’s not clear from those responses what type of cloud organisations have in mind. Elsewhere in the survey private cloud is the fourth highest priority datacentre infrastructure project (24% of those questioned) while hybrid cloud and hybrid cloud management are planned deployments by 22% and 18% respectively. These suggest public cloud is far from the frontrunner for many, because of limitations – real and perceived – over latency/bandwidth, compliance and security of data. As the public cloud becomes more reliable and trusted we should expect it to take a larger slice of user attention.
