UK's fastest supercomputer upgrades to 2Pflops and 5PB of tiered storage

For backup storage Archer uses a SpectraLogic T380 tape library. It has 100 tape slots and currently retains capacity of around 250TB of data sets that are permanently accessible on site. Spectra Logic T-Series tape libraries have been designed for ease of use in multi-department research environments and are present in eight of the top 10 largest supercomputing datacentres on the planet. T-Series tape libraries are compatible with LTO and IBM TS1140 technology tape drives and media. Long-term storage is carried out by the EPCC’s Research Data Facility near Edinburgh, which houses data on 13.8PB of disk and 19PB of tape.
