FDM everywoman Inspiration of the Year: Sue Black

Everywoman founder Maxine Benson and David Parry-Jones, regional director for UK and Ireland of VMware, present Sue Black with her award.

Sue Black, founder and CEO, Savvify, from London won the FDM everywoman Inspiration of the Year award 2014.

Black works for UCL and is also the founder and CEO of technology education social enterprise, Savvify. Black determinedly makes sure that more support is available to women working in technology. She has over 40 computer sicence research publications and recently spoke to the United Nations about women, technology and empowerment. Black has given around 50 keynote talks around the world, mentoring many staff and raised almost £1m in research funding.   

According to the judges, Black is “extraordinarily selfless" and "does what she does because it matters".

The annual awards aim to address the issue of attracting more women into the tech sector and retaining more female talent. This year's winners were announced during a ceremony at the Park Lane Sheraton.
