Generational loss in both industry and academia

There has been a generational talent loss both in industry and in academia, with insufficient teachers to cover successive generations, alongside a massive shortfall of workers to fill the plethora of IT related jobs.

This means the computer science education pipeline has stalled, and as things stand it is likely to take a minimum of 8-10 years to replenish this IT pipeline.  This will have a detrimental long-term effect on the UK economy if not addressed with some urgency.
