Sofant Technologies manufactures a smart antenna for smartphones and portable devices.

Sergio explained that a bad antenna for a smartphone (the iPhone for instance has five), can greatly affect its battery life.

Sofant developed its own silicon-based smart antenna at Edinburgh University. By improving the rate of data transfer, SmartAntenna claims to provide a higher level of connectivity than a conventional antenna, consuming 90% less energy, therefore boosting battery life of smartphone.

The company is hoping to target OEM manufacturers and the semi-conductor companies that supply the mobile industry. Typically it is hoping to speak to companies such as Samsung, HTS, Qualcom, Intel and Huawei.
