First look: Microsoft Office 2013

Outlook 2013 has a new pop-up “peek” option using a menu at the bottom left of the application window. Outlook also connects to the internet to show forecasted weather for calendar dates, an example of using a web service to enhance a desktop product. Another new feature is MailTips, a notification that appears when Outlook detects a potential error, such as forgetting to attach a file but referring to an attachment in the message. Users testing Outlook 2013 can install it side by side with earlier versions.
