8. Catherine Doran, CIO, Royal Mail Group

As the third Royal Mail CIO in less than 18 months, Doran inherits a controversial IT transformation programme, as well as the likelihood of splitting off the Post Office as part of the reorganisation of the UK postal service. Catherine joined Royal Mail in September 2011 as the Chief Information Officer. 

She is responsible for devising and delivering the IT strategy to transform the technology estate to underpin the business transformation agenda. She joined Royal Mail from Network Rail where she led the company-wide transformation programme, aimed at achieving multi-billion pound savings through technology and process changes. Throughout her career, she has held progressively responsible IT leadership roles in a number of blue chip companies – BT, NatWest, Capital One, Logica and Altergo.
