Matt Brittin leads an operation that is Google’s second largest after the US and the most advanced in terms of e-commerce and online advertising spend. Brittin has defined himself in interviews as “fiercely supportive of the UK media landscape” and has positioned Google as a key player in a new environment where traditional publishers are still working out how to survive in the digital age. Under Brittin’s watch, Google is also leading Getting British Business Online, an initiative focused on helping small businesses get online, as well as supporting the Tech City initiative in East London.
