Subs spike sees growth return to Vodafone UK
Vodafone UK is claiming its best-ever quarter for new customers, with more than 500,000 additions in the three months ending 30 September
After a three-month period that has seen it launch a new 5G network and introduce new unlimited data plans, Vodafone UK is claiming its best-ever quarter for new customers.
For the quarter ending 30 September 2019, the company doubled its number of mobile contract customers compared with the second quarter – over 500,000 new customers in all – and has a million customers taking up new mobile and broadband services, including Vodafone Unlimited plans. Nearly 40% of new and upgrading customers chose the Vodafone Unlimited bundle for the first time.
The rise in subscriptions comes after Vodafone announced that it had displaced BT/EE as the future mobile virtual network operator platform provider for Virgin Media, supporting new services such as 5G, and that it is to make its Gigafast Broadband offer available to customers in Birmingham, Bristol and Liverpool on the Openreach fibre-to-the-premises network.
“We are challenging the market with our new customer offerings, building the UK’s best 5G and full-fibre networks and improving customer service both online and on the high street,” said Nick Jeffery, CEO of Vodafone UK.
“We have come out of the blocks quickly in the first six months of this year and have many more great customer products and services planned for the second half of our financial year to continue to reward existing customers and attract new ones.”
