Tomlin takes on combined Azlan and Technology Solutions role
With the Avnet Technology Solutions acquisition all tied up the scope of Rob Tomlin's role has expanded
With the Avnet Technology Solutions acquisition now all wrapped up the last few executive changes are filtering through as Tech Data looks to the future.
The plan was always to integrate the Technology Solutions operations into Azlan, the data centre arm at Tech Data, which would create a robust operation.
At the start of the month the distributor revealed its European management team and the destination of some of AVnet's former executives.
It has now followed those details with plans for Azlan with Rob Tomlin, formerly the UK&I managing director, becoming UK managing director of Azlan & Technology Solutions.
One of his tasks will be to spearhead the strategy for the combined organisation and chart a course that gains more growth.
"I’m looking forward to exploring new opportunities to engage with our customers and partners. We are bringing together two organisations with a mutual commitment to providing the very best customer experience. My focus will be to ensure our partners benefit from the combined specialisms, skills and capabilities, and the extended and differentiated portfolio of IT solutions that we are now bringing together within the Azlan & Technology Solutions business," he said.
Tomlin will be reporting into Tech Data's senior vice president and regional managing director UK and Ireland, Andy Gass.
Gass said that Tomlin, who has been running the Azlan business since January last year, had the qualities to take the business into its next stage of development.
The other highlights of the executive changes saw Miriam Murphy take on the role of senior vice president and regional managing director Benelux. Graeme Watt, got the task of becoming senior vice president, Value (includes the combined businesses of Azlan and Technology Solutions, specialist brands Datech and Maverick, along with Tech Data Cloud and Tech Data Smart for IoT).
Other headline changes include Patrick Zammit being named the President of Tech Data Europe with Gass reporting into him.
