AWS partner HeleCloud sets sights on Europe with acquisition
AWS specialist makes its first acquisition gaining a foothold in the Benelux region with the aim of exploiting the growth opportunities in that region
There has been some consolidation in the AWS channel with the public cloud specialist’s partner HeleCloud striking an acquisition with OlinData as the firm looks to expand its reach further into Europe.
Both firms are cloud specialists and for AWS advanced consulting and managed services partner HeleCloud the deal to land another advanced consulting partner, in the shape of OlinData, is its first purchase and will give it a base in the Netherlands and a chance to attack some of the growth in public cloud spending being made in the Benelux region.
Details of the deal were not disclosed but it has been described as helping HeleCloud reach its target of ending this year with more than 100 staff and 200% growth. The firm currently employs 73 people across offices in London and Bulgaria but has been keen to expand since gaining a £2m investment from BGF last October.
Dob Todorov, CEO and CCO of HeleCloud, said that the firms were both well versed in getting the most out of the AWS cloud environment for customers and the tie-up would give it a chance to look for opportunities beyond the UK.
"By acquiring OlinData, we are able to establish a strong presence in the Benelux and further fuel our ambitions to be at the forefront of the cloud services business in Europe," he said.
OlinData has developed a reputation for being strong on the open source front but the two firms can offer a range of services that Walter Heck, CEO of the Dutch firm, believed would help it deliver a strong united proposition.
“By combining our specialist expertise and complimentary service portfolios, OlinData and HeleCloud can offer customers an even better equipped team of proven experts within the fields of security and compliance, open source, DevOps, advanced analytics and process models as well as AWS certified consultants and engineers," he said.
