Ingram Micro urges more cloud action
In the run up to the distributor's Cloud Summit the firm has underlined just why it believes more channel partners need to get involved in the hosted world
Ingram Micro has given the channel a flavour of the content that will be coming at its Cloud Summit event in London later this week.
The distributor has held a few of its summits over the years encouraging more resellers to take the leap to cloud. This year will give a market update but comes with a warning that those in the channel that have so far avoided getting involved risk missing out on significant opportunities if they do not embrace hosted applications and services.
“The channel is at a crossroads as it grapples with the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and the choices partners make today will
have a direct impact on their future prosperity," said Apay Obang-Oyway, director of cloud UK&I at Ingram Micro.
"The cloud is at the heart of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which is already starting to change our lives, and we continue to
have an important role in enabling our partner organisations to excel. Many partners are now looking at how they can evolve and
adapt to support their customers in this revolution to harness the power of the cloud for business success," he added.
The Ingram event is looking into the revenue opportunities around digital transformation and how partners can help users by using
business intelligence with AI and virtualisation.
Ingram is not the only organisation promoting the benefits of getting involved with the cloud and there has been research from various sources that indicates the momentum towards hosted solutions and services is only going in one direction.
Ingram itself carried out some work to get a clearer picture of what was happening last year that showed that 71% of organisations believed they would be embarking on a conversion of being digitally transformed within the organisations’ DNA by the end of 2018.
