Civo details FlexCore plug-&-play private (public-ish) cloud
Open source cloud computing platform and company Civo recently delivered a new private cloud service.
But so what, right?
Well, yes, but FlexCore (as the service is called) is said to be built on a promise to deliver security, performance and scalability in a straightforward easily deployable package.
FlexCore offers the ‘advanced functionality’ of a public cloud (in this case, Civo’s public cloud) to customers in a private cloud environment. It’s the drive that typifies the way the whole cloud computing industry is moving right now i.e. public cloud power, but with private cloud control and convenience… which, in a sense, makes us wonder why a hybrid cloud amalgam was never quite good enough after all, although the additional effort here to build more usable powerful cloud services has not gone unnoticed.
Software… AND hardware
The ‘solution’ includes both hardware and software, pre-integrated for a better deployment experience. Users can have their private cloud up and running within minutes with minimal setup.
FlexCore supports Kubernetes, Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), Database as a Service (DBaaS) and AI/ML applications.
It offers plug-and-play deployment so that users can power on the pre-integrated hardware, assign an IP address be ready to go with private cloud.
“Businesses are increasingly seeking solutions that allow them to retain control over their data while avoiding the vendor lock-in often associated with hyperscalers,” said Mark Boost, CEO of Civo. “FlexCore meets this demand head-on, offering an alternative to VMware that ensures our customers can maintain their sovereignty and flexibility, features that many VMware customers had easy access to before the Broadcom acquisition. Our mission with FlexCore is to provide a straightforward, powerful private cloud solution that empowers businesses to operate with confidence, control, and clarity.”
Did we mention VMware enough?
FlexCore simplifies the transition to a private cloud with integration capabilities, ensuring compatibility with AWS, Azure, GCP and migration from existing infrastructures, including VMware, yes Civo… you’ve mentioned VMware three times now thanks, we get the point.
FlexCore is designed to meet the needs of enterprises that require a reliable, high-performance cloud environment while maintaining control over their data. CivoStack Enterprise provides the same features as FlexCore but is deployable on a user’s own hardware.
Civo research found that 48.7% of VMware customers (four times) are actively exploring alternative cloud providers, with many accustomed to the private solutions previously available on VMware (okay make it a round five).
It is designed for enterprise-grade reliability, FlexCore handles hardware failures gracefully and ensures continuous uptime with automatic failover capabilities.
