What to expect from Workday Rising 2022

Hardy toughened souls (capable of braving the cold) as they are, the Computer Weekly Developer Network team is headed to Stockholm, Sweden, for Workday Rising Europe 2022.

The event runs from Tuesday 15 to Thursday 17 November at the Stockholmsmässan conference centre.

Workday specialises in cloud applications for financial management and HR (Human Resources) and HCM (Human Capital Management) with additional capabilities in planning, spend management and analytics.

Founded in 2005 by Dave Duffield and Aneel Bhusri (formerly at PeopleSoft) Workday is a cloud-native company that employs a single, cloud-based database for both HCM and financials.

The Workday Rising event hashtag is #WDAYRISING and Workday tweets at this link.

“Whether it’s planning for the unknown, supporting employees in new working models, or embracing technologies that deliver the insights needed to drive the business forward, our customers have navigated an immense amount of change over the last few years and technology has played a critical role in enabling them to adapt,” said Pete Schlampp, chief strategy officer, Workday.

“With customer service as a core value, our focus has and will always be on supporting our customers through innovation to meet their needs today and in the future,” added Schlampp.

Workday Rising Europe 2022

Workday is currently working to expand new machine learning capabilities to help create a more frictionless finance experience, increased performance and scalability to support company-wide planning.

It is also emphasising deeper insights into the supply chain to support environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives.

Workday co-CEO Chano Fernandez will deliver the keynote and explain how firms can gain the power to adapt to change.

There are six major tracks at Workday Rising Europe 2022 all related to the company’s core specialisms: Financial Management; Spend Management; Employee Voice and Experience; Workforce Management and Payroll; Talent and Skills; and Workforce Planning and Analytics.

Knowing me Björn Ulvaeus, knowing you enterprise HCM software with intelligent financials on cloud-first architecture… A-HA!

Workday also continues to build in line with its broader experience strategy, which consists of three primary pillars – Workday Engage, Workday Everywhere and Workday Empower.

In the future, Workday plans to deliver ML that will make recommendations based on past actions – for example, preemptively offering to download a report for viewing based on when that specific report is typically accessed.

Björn the changemaker

The guest keynote speaker is Björn Ulvaeus, from ABBA.

His session is billed as an opportunity to hear Björn in conversation with DJ and broadcaster Goldierocks to learn how ABBA’s innovative approach has kept the band relevant through the years and established them as changemakers.

With average temperatures of just above freezing, Stockholm won’t be the warmest place this November, but we can expect a warm welcome indoors no doubt.

Workday is a real HCM and HR specialist, so what’s the difference we wonder? Perhaps the digital platform approach from the company will help us know more.

What do you mean, your company doesn’t have a ‘chief people officer’ but you do have a personnel department! Get out of the 1970s, right?
