City University London has launched its IBM Enterprise Computing scholarship to award a place on its Masters of Information Leadership (MIL) course.

City University London has launched its IBM Enterprise Computing scholarship worth £30,000 to award a free place on its Masters of Information Leadership (MIL) course.

The scholarship, which Computer Weekly is sponsoring, is worth £30,000 over two years and covers the winning student's tuition fees. The MIL is aimed at providing mid-career information professionals with the skills, knowledge and contacts to become future CIOs.

David Chan, director for the Centre for Information Leadership at City, said: "I am very pleased that IBM enterprise systems has demonstrated its support for the MIL programme starting in April 2012."

Gary Kildare, vice-president of human resources at IBM, said such partnerships between universities and industry partners are crucial to providing academic students with a better understanding of the industry and supporting future IT leaders.

Interested candidates can apply online from the 14th November 2011 by attaching a competition entry to a general application for the MIL course online for April 2012 entry. The scholarship will then be awarded to applicants who are offered a place on the MIL programme.

Last year's winner was Peter Swingewood, deputy head of information services at Cass Business School.

The competition is not open to employees of City University or IBM. The deadline for applications is 12pm 16th January 2012.
